L&S alumna named director of PEOPLE program
Shanee McCoy (African American Studies '09) a champion for students with a long record of increasing college access and success, will serve as the next director of UW–Madison’s Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE). McCoy is well-positioned to lead the program, which helps low-income and first-generation Wisconsin youth achieve their academic goals.

Dr. Lopez receives Regents’ Diversity Award
The annual Regents’ Diversity Awards recognizes individuals and programs that foster access and success for historically underrepresented populations. Among the 2023 recipients is professor Lori Kido Lopez, whose research and teaching focus on ways disenfranchised communities use media to promote empowerment and social justice.
