The American Academy of Arts and Sciences announced that four L&S faculty members have been elected to the national honorary society and research center.
UW–Madison scientists part of team awarded Breakthrough Prize in Physics
A team of 13,508 scientists, including over 100 from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, won the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation. The Prize recognizes work conducted at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) between 2015 and 2024.

Professor Gurindar Sohi wins prestigious Computer Pioneer Award
Computer sciences professor Gurindar (Guri) Sohi has won the 2025 Computer Pioneer Award in Honor of the Women of ENIAC from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society. The first person from UW–Madison to receive the honor Sohi is recognized for his contributions to enhancing the efficiency of microprocessors and his influence on computer architecture.
