Vallabh Sambamurthy: The business case for new building on UW-Madison campus

Dean of Wisconsin School of Business Vallabh Sambamurthy, shares with Wisconsin State Journal why he believes a new College of Letters & Science building to replace the current Humanities Building would benefit students and the University as a whole. Tour of L&S, engineering facilities highlights need for new buildings

University of Wisconsin System Interim President Tommy Thompson and UW–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank were joined by L&S Dean Eric Wilcots for a building tour and a press conference urging the legislature to move forward on new building projects, including replacing the Humanities Building.

Building for the future

The Humanities Building has outlived its usefulness, and serious maintenance costs and outdated classrooms are driving the push for a new, forward-looking building for L&S. Part of the university's biennial capital budget request to the State of Wisconsin, the new building would be sited at the corner of West Johnson and North Park Streets and would provide 1800 seats in 19 classrooms that support active, collaborative learning and modern technology.
