Four graduate students in the UW-Madison Philosophy doctoral program recently launched Philosophy TV, a website devoted to philosophical discussion.
John Basl, David Killoren, Jonathan Lang, and Brynn Welch have lined up a world-class roster of talent to talk about a wide variety of topics of current philosophical interest.
Philosophy TV offers anyone interested in these topics the opportunity to learn more about their own specific areas of interest, as well as the chance to eavesdrop on conversations going on all around the field. Students of philosophy will find valuable examples of how to do philosophy well.
Visitors to the site can watch split-screen discussions featuring top philosophers, find links to more information on the subject, and even enter the discussion themselves by leaving comments.
Over 1,000 people watched the first discussion, and with two new videos each week, philosophers of any stripe are sure to find something that catches their eye!

The student creators are:
- John Basl received his BA in Philosophy from Northeastern University, his MA from the University of Wisconsin, and he works in Philosophy of Biology and Environmental Ethics.
- David Killoren received his BA in Philosophy and Mathematics from Saint Louis University, his MA from the University of Wisconsin, and he works in Ethics.
- Jonathan Lang received his BA in Philosophy from the University of Cincinnati, his MA from the University of Wisconsin, and he works in Aesthetics, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Psychology. ()
- Brynn Welch received her BA in Philosophy from Davidson College, her MA from the University of Wisconsin, and she works in Social/Political Philosophy and Ethics.
