This fall, the UW-Madison Philosophy Department will host the 2010 meeting of the Midwest Division of the Society for Women in Philosophy (SWIP).

Events and talks will run from 7:00pm to 9:00 pmFriday evening, from 8:00am until 5:30pm Saturday, and from 8:30am until 11:50am Sunday. There will also be a party on Saturday evening, time and location to-be-announced.
There is no registration fee and all members of the campus community are welcome to attend.
The conference is interdisciplinary, and seeks speakers whose work engages with the concerns of feminism, both in theory and in practice. Of particular interest are papers that critique the field of philosophy itself, or that develop feminist perspectives on race, class, gender, and sexual orientation.
In addition to formal presentations, Midwest SWIP welcomes panels and performances that develop feminist ideas, broadly construed.
The mission of SWIP, which was founded in 1972, is to encourage and support the work of women in the field of philosophy.
The conference is being coordinated locally by philosophy graduate students Mavis Biss, Emily McRae, and Gina Schouten.
