If you watched the Emmys last weekend, you probably noticed that "Modern Family" did pretty well at this year's awards.
What you may not have noticed, was that behind the hit TV show is a liberal arts alumnus from UW-Madison.
Steven Levitan (BA'84, Communication Arts) is co-executive producer of "Modern Family" which received a total of six Emmy awards. The show was third in programs who received multiple awards, behind "The Pacific" and "Temple Grandin."
Levitan shared an Emmy with writing partners Christopher Lloyd in the categories Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

"Modern Family" also won in Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Animation.
Levitan isn't the only Hollywood Badger at the Emmys:
- Richard Scott Dahm (BA'84, Communication Arts), shared an Emmy with 15 other writers for "The Colbert Report" in the category Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program
- Mark G. Samels (BA'78, Communication Arts) was nominated for Outstanding Nonfiction Series as executive producer of "American Experience"
