Will Brockliss first encountered Perseus beheading the snake-haired Gorgon Medusa when he was in second grade. The story sparked a lifelong passion for the ancient world in the associate professor of classics, who received the Class of 1955 Teaching Excellence Award in 2020. Brockliss teaches students in the Odyssey Project (a UW-Madison program designed to offer low-income adult learners the chance to earn college credit) and wows his students with the horrors of ancient Greek and Roman mythology.

The Fellowship Awards will support 6-12 months of full-time writing or research.

Fifteen graduate students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison have been honored as recipients of the 2017 Campus-Wide Teaching Assistant (TA) Awards. They will be joined by families, friends, colleagues, and the university administration at the award ceremony on February 20.

UW-Madison graduate student Molly Harris has not served in the military, nor have her brother or parents. She finds the situation fairly common among her peers. The civilian-military divide led her to partner with the Wisconsin Veterans Museum on the Warrior Book Club.
