Geoscience Professor Nita Sahai.
Professor Nita Sahai (Geoscience) has been elected a Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America.
The Fellowship recognizes a distinguished group of individuals for their significant contributions to the fields of mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry and petrology.
Sahai’s research focuses on the thermodynamics and kinetics of biomolecule and cell interactions at mineral surfaces.
Her contributions has been to highlight the critical, but often overlooked, role of mineral crystal structure and surface chemistry in bioceramics design for tissue-engineering, environmental geochemistry, and the early evolution of prokaryotic cell surfaces.
Sahai also received the Romnes Faculty Fellow award earlier this year.
