The Russian Flagship Program admitted its first class of students to begin the program in the Fall 2010.
The new undergraduate program provides highly motivated students with diverse academic interests -- from international studies and political science to medical microbiology and immunology -- the opportunity to achieve a professional level of competence in Russian.
Russian Flagship students also conduct research in Russian their major field of study, work intensively with native speaker tutors, meet with visiting scholars from Russia for lectures and small-group conversations, and participate in a variety of extra-curricular and social activities in Russian.
The rigorous program at UW-Madison prepares students for a capstone year abroad in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where students complete an internship and enroll in courses in their major at Saint Petersburg University.
