Sarah T. Roberts (BA' 97, MA'07), recent graduate of the School of Library and Information Studies, has completed a fellowship internship at the Washington, D.C. offices of the American Library Association under the auspices of the 2009 Google Policy Fellowship. Roberts was the first Badger to participate in the program thus far.
In only its second year, the highly competitive Google Policy Fellowship offered a select group of advanced students in policy studies from across the country and abroad the opportunity to work in agencies and think tanks devoted to technology policy in the exciting environment of Washington, D.C.
Roberts represented the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the ALA Office of Information Technology Policy where she authored policy briefs, monitored Congressional hearings and participated in a number of technology and policy initiatives, including the Federal Broadband Stimulus program.
A published policy brief on the future of newspapers, the outcome of the fellowship work, will be released later this year.
