Furman
Jason Furman, President Obama's chief economic adviser, will give a free, public lecture on the UW-Madison campus on Monday, Nov. 18.
The Department of Economics is hosting Furman, who will speak from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the DeLuca Forum of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. His lecture is titled, "Fiscal Policy: Achievements, Opportunities & Challenges."
Furman, the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, served as the economic policy director for the Obama campaign. Before joining the Obama team, he was a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, where he worked on proposals to create economic growth. Furman also worked on President Clinton's economic team and has edited two books: Path to Prosperity and Who Has the Cure?
Furman holds a Ph.D. in economics and a master's in government from Harvard University and a master's degree from the London School of Economics.
