AwardIn an effort to mark the many accomplishments of outstanding students, faculty and staff, the Philosophy Department convened on a lovely day in May for its Inaugural Honors and Awards Banquet.

The event brought together alumni, donors, student award recipients, department faculty and staff, and graduate student degree recipients.

The Alumni Lounge of the Pyle Center served as the event base.

Professor Russ Shafer-Landau
Russ Shafer-Landau, Chair of the Philosophy department, served as the evening's emcee. Over 60 members of the extended departmental community joined together for the festivities.

In addition to acknowledging the many honors earned by philosophy students, and recognizing the accomplishments of faculty and staff, the department also paid special homage to Professors Ivan Soll and Keith Yandell, who recently retired from UW-Madison after 47 and 45 years of service, respectively.

The department sees this banquet as the beginning of a great annual tradition!
