Chemistry Professor Lloyd Smith, together with other faculty at UW, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Marquette University, have received an $8 Million, 3-year NIH grant to establish the Wisconsin Center for Excellence in Genomics Science.

Smith will be co-director of the center — other UW faculty involved include Josh Coon (chemistry) and James Thomson (anatomy).

Researchers at Wisconsin will focus on developing new technologies for analysis of proteins that bind to DNA.
