Professor Alfonso Morales (Urban and Regional Planning) was featured in October 21, 2009 edition of Wisconsin Week: 'Street Markets are this professor's laboratory.'
Morales — who is released from teaching this fall by a UW system faculty diversity award — recently coedited the book, "An American Story: Mexican American Entrepreneurship & Wealth Creation, with John Sibley Butler and David Torres (Purdue University Press) which came out in September 2009.
His work on markets has also been published in JPER "Public Markets as Tools of Community Development" and in Zoning Practice. His is also working on food systems and has just prepared a working paper titled: Satiating the Demand: Planning for Alternative Models of Regional Food Distribution."
Morales has also been traveling — he was invited to lecture about his research on street markets at Berlin Technical University, the Community Food Security Conference, and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and he has made presentations at various other conferences.
