Professor Alfonso Morales' (Urban & Regional Planning) research on marketplaces and urban agriculture has been featured in five print media or radio interviews over the last six months, including:

His recent publications include “Scaling up for Regional Food Distribution,” which is an URPL Working Paper with Lindsey Day-Farnsworth, and “Social Currency: A Tool to Empower Marginalized Populations,” which appeared in Progressive Planning Magazine, (Summer, 184).
Morales continues to work in the area of community economic development by examining food systems and business formation.
He also works with EDCO Ventures, a venture nonprofit organization that works with governments, universities, businesses and individuals to seed technologies and ideas that will benefit disadvantaged areas. Since 2006, the organization has created more than 10 companies and 60 jobs in economically marginalized areas.
Morales' work with EDCO Ventures is under review for presentation at an upcoming Federal Reserve conference.
