L&S Learning Support Services will be showcasing renovations to their facilities in an Open House on Friday Nov. 18 from 2-4 p.m. in Van Hise.
Both the Library and Info Lab in Van Hise underwent renovations to improve the quality of services provided. The renovations include technology upgrades provided by the Instructional Technology Improvement Program (ITIP) as well as new pieces of art purchased through the Wisconsin’s Percent for Art Program.
Located in Van Hise, LSS promotes the use of technology by faculty, students and staff for teaching and learning.
Three of their facilities, including the Learning Lab/Library, Info Lab and Study Hall, now feature seven new pieces of art from five Wisconsin artists.
“We are located in Van Hise Hall, which houses many foreign language programs and our library has an extensive foreign media collection. Therefore, in room 259—the Learning Lab/Library—we wanted art that would reflect and enhance a multicultural experience, and inspire thoughts of travel to foreign places,” said Lisa Jansen, Associate Director of LSS.
“Our goals for the study hall in room 455 were a little different. There are many students who spend their entire days in Van Hise Hall during the course of a semester, so we wanted pieces that had enough complexity to remain interesting after days and months of viewing. In addition we wanted to create a ‘Wisconsin Experience’ with pieces that represented our beautiful Wisconsin landscape,” Jansen said.
