L&S undergrads receive Deans' prizes

Three Deans' prizes were given to students representing the best of their graduating class and considered to be the most accomplished among the 4,000 Letters & Science senior class members for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The winners include Erin Conrad, Jia Luo and David Ziehr.

  • Erin Conrad is a physics, math and French major from Eden Prairie, MN. Conrad was an undergraduate research assistant for the Chemistry and Physics and a peer mentor for the Physics department. Conrad will now attend medical school at the University of Michigan.
  • Jia Luo is a biochemistry and economics graduate from Madison, WI.  Luo received a Leadership Trust Award to create “Wiscipedia”– a web tool allowing students a to share and update information about the university and campus life. Luo will be attending Stanford University Medical School.
  • David Ziehr is a molecular biology graduate from Middleton, WI.  Ziehr has a long record of community service and was a member of the UW Cycling Team and UW Triathlon Team.  He will continue his research in Professor Silvia Cavagnero’s Chemistry lab and is planning to attend medical school in 2010.
