L&S graduate programs garner high rankings from U.S. News & World Report

Year after year, graduate programs from the College of Letters & Science are ranked among the nation's best, and the 2015 edition of U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate Schools once again includes standout representatives of L&S.

Not all disciplines and programs are ranked every year. L&S programs ranked this year (along with specialties ranked) are:

  • Biological sciences: 18th overall.
  • Chemistry: Ninth overall. Ranked specialties include analytical (sixth), biochemistry (tied for second), inorganic (sixth) and organic (eighth).
  • Computer science: Tied for 11th. Ranked specialties include programming language (10th) and systems (tied for eighth).
  • Earth sciences: Tied for 13th. Ranked specialties include geochemistry (tied for fifth).
  • Mathematics: Tied for 14th. Ranked specialties include logic (tied for fourth).
  • Physics: Tied for 18th. Ranked specialties include plasma (tied for third).
  • Statistics: Tied for 12th.
