The College of Letters & Science is pleased to announce that Professor of Sociology James Montgomery has been named associate dean for fiscal initiatives, beginning May 26.
Montgomery joined the UW-Madison faculty in 2000 and served as chair of the Department of Sociology between 2010-2013. He is a mathematical sociologist whose research has focused on population dynamics, intergenerational transmission of culture, religiosity, and networks.
Montgomery holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Andrews University (Michigan) and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has held faculty appointments at Northwestern University and the London School of Economics.
