The Milwaukee Public Museum is hosting a major exhibition on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible in cooperation with the Dead Sea Scrolls Foundation.
The exhibition, Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures (January-June 2010) is the largest temporary exhibit ever produced by the Milwaukee Public Museum.
The exhibition explores the archaeological history of the Holy Land during the period the Scrolls were written, from the third century BCE through the first century CE.
The Lubar Institute for the Study of the Abrahamic Religions (LISAR) is pleased to collaborate on the accompanying lecture series by hosting two lectures.
The first, “God Among the Gods: Divine Plurality in the Qur’an in the Light of Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Mythic Tradition,” will be given on April 15 by Professor Wesley Williams of Michigan State University.
Harvard Professor Andrew Teeter will deliver the second LISAR lecture, “The Scriptures and their Interpretation in the Dead Sea Scrolls,” on May 6.
