The Milwaukee Press Club has released the results of the 84th annual Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism awards, and students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication are listed among this year’s winners. The students will learn in May whether they earned gold, silver or bronze awards.
Best TV Feature Story
The Badger Report, the video storytelling course (J419 Electronic News for the Web and Broadcast) is a winner in the Best Feature Story category. The students, Kyle Deckelbaum and Dena Goldstein, will receive an award for “Text for a Text,” a story about new ways to find information within the UW Libraries.
Best Multi Media Feature
The Spring 2011 section of Faculty Associate Pat Hastings’ J-335 Intermediate Reporting class, will receive an award in the category of Best Multi Media Feature. The class produced a multi media Web site called “Wisconsin Balancing Act: Where Do You Fall After Budget Cuts.” The editors were Rory Linnane and Alex Surprise. Professional journalists from press clubs throughout the U.S judge the awards. The awards ceremony is May 18th in Milwaukee.
