The Milwaukee Press Club has awarded a number of reporting awards to School of Journalism and Mass Communication students.
The club determined that a collaborative project between two Intermediate Reporting classes won a 1st place award for Online Media: Best Web Site Design.
The site, called recessiONwisconsin, featured print, audio, video and links that examined the magnitude of the recession.
Journalism & Mass Communication Faculty Associates Pat Hastings and Steve Walters teach the classes.
The school’s Badger Report also received an award for television sports reporting.
The Badger Report is a live, streamed website.
A story about the Kelter twins, Alev and Derya, who are on the soccer and hockey teams, won 2nd place for Best Sports Story.
This story was also featured on ESPN's website in the fall. The winning photographers for the story were Matt Fox and Phil Levin.
The Badger Report is supervised by Hastings.
