The State of Wisconsin is joined by many other states in trying new approaches to improve the well-being of families, especially vulnerable families. Many hold that effective policies are informed by research findings, policymaker expertise, and client experience.
Yet, communication between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners is often limited.
In mid-July, the Institute for Research on Poverty hosted a conference that brought together representatives from the three groups to discuss recent state-level policy innovations and what they have learned from them.
Salient ideas drawn from the conference discussion will be made available on IRP’s Web site in late 2009.
