This semester, do you plan to:
- Survey your Facebook friends to see if men or women update their profile picture more frequently?
- Travel abroad to study a different culture?
- Interview your classmates to find out which news program they watch to hear political updates?
All of these are examples of situations involving humans as research subjects.
UW-Madison policy requires that you submit to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) before conducting research with human subjects.
This requirement may seem like an intimidating hurdle to cross, but it doesn't need to be.
If you plan to involve humans as research subjects in a project this year, please consider attending the Education Research and Social & Behavioral Science IRBs Basic Training.
The training will take place on:
- Wednesday, September 28 from 1:30-2:30 PM
OR
- Thursday, September 29 from 9:30-10:30 AM
Both sessions will take place in the Wisconsin Idea Room in the Education Building.
Brush up on your IRB application skills to make sure that your research is done in an ethical and federally compliant manner. IRB staff will be available to give you one-on-one, individualized attention.
Registration is not required for this event.
