Int'l wetlands conference draws +700 attendees to Madison

Professor Joy Zedler, Aldo Leopold Professor of Restoration Ecology, co-chaired the June 21-26 international conference, Wetland Connections, in Madison at Monona Terrace.

This conference was the joint annual meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists, the Wisconsin Wetlands Association, and the Wetland Biogeochemistry Symposium.

More than 700 people- a record number - attended the conference.  George Archibald of the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo was one of several outstanding plenary speakers at the event.

The conference also featured local field trips including one, co-led by Zedler, to wetland communities at the UW-Madison Arboretum.
