The Institute for Research in the Humanities has announced its 2013-17 Senior Fellows. They are:
- Leslie Bow (English and Asian American Studies), Race, Ethnicity, and Indigeneity Senior Fellow
- Tomislav Longinović (Slavic Languages and Literature), Senior Fellow
- Steven Nadler (Philosophy), Senior Fellow
- Ron Radano (Music), Senior Fellow
- Louise Young (History), Senior Fellow
The Institute offers up to eight internal Senior Fellowships to UW-Madison tenured faculty members in the College of Letters and Science who are engaged in innovative research in the humanities. Senior Fellows receive four full semesters of leave from teaching and service and may take their leave semesters at any point during a four-year period.
Up to seven Senior Fellowships are awarded on open topics in the humanities; one Race, Ethnicity, and Indigeneity (REI) Senior Fellowship is awarded for research with clear significance for race, ethnicity, and/or indigeneity and ability to provide leadership for other REI fellows.
Senior Fellows attend Institute seminars, present their work, sit on selection committees, advise the director, and organize a Burdick-Vary Symposium or other comparable events. Application is by individual or departmental nomination; competitions are announced in the fall as positions become available.
