An innovative online course - "History of US Foreign Policy and Grand Strategy"- began on June 15. Open to undergraduates, the course is also a unique opportunity for military officers serving abroad.
There are currently 31 "special students" enrolled, including 25 full-time military officers, a number of whom are taking the course while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Thanks to generous support from donors, 18 of these officers will not have to pay tuition out-of-pocket.
We are very grateful for this support and optimistic about the possibilities for innovative, rigorous distance learning that serves the Wisconsin Idea. We hope the course will generate valuable networks between students, military officers, intellectuals and others interested in foreign policy.
The course is financed through the College of Letters & Science and Division of Continuing Studies and aims to bring historical knowledge together with real world contemporary problems in foreign policy.
