The Center for German and European Studies welcomed two notable individuals this spring: German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth and Germany-based film director David Assman.

Scharioth – on his second visit to campus this year – gave a public talk “The Transatlantic Agenda—a German Perspective.”

In April, Assman presented his recent work “Football Under Cover,” which touches upon the experiences of women living in Iran, film production and soccer in Germany and Iran. Five hundred Wisconsin and Illinois high-school students attended the screening, as part of Wisconsin Cinema Day and the Wisconsin Film Festival.
