Fill the Hill is back! UW–Madison’s flamboyant fall fundraiser returns Oct. 5-6, 2023, and Letters & Science needs you to help us Fill the Hill. Every gift L&S receives during the campaign will add a pink lawn flamingo to the Bascom Hill flock and will help support the college’s educational mission. Last year, L&S alumni and friends raised more than $100,000 during Fill the Hill with funds supporting student scholarships, internship opportunities and community outreach projects.

Fly over to uwflamingos.com/letters-science/ today to learn how your Fill the Hill gift will impact Letters & Science this year.

Looking for other ways to be involved in the feathery fun? Share your L&S story on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook using #UWflamingos and tagging @UWMadisonLS and @WisAlumni. And be sure to check out the resources available at uwflamingos.com/get-involved.

After James Mallon (’79) and Leon Varjian captured student government with their Pail and Shovel party in 1978, they celebrated their victory by filling Bascom Hill with 1,008 pink lawn flamingos during the first week of classes in fall 1979.
