Emshwiller is the new Society for Economic Botany prez

Eve Emshwiller, Assistant Professor of Botany, will become President of the Society for Economic Botany (SEB) on June 4, 2009, at the society’s 50th Annual Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina.

The SEB, which publishes the journal “Economic Botany,” is the leading scholarly society in the field of ethnobotany – the study of the relationships between human cultures and the plants they utilize.

Emshwiller’s research focuses on human-plant interactions and since arriving at UW, she has established an active research program with four graduate students and has developed a new undergraduate course in ethnobotany.
