Drewal's 'Mami Wata' debuts in D.C.

Henry Drewal, Evjue-Bascom Professor in Art History and Afro-American Studies, opened his Mami Wata exhibition March 31 at the National Museum of African Art-Smithsonian in Washington, DC which received a rave review by Holland Cotter of The New York Times on Friday, April 3.

Drewal was also recently awarded a Senior Fellowship at the Sainsbury Research Unit, University of East Anglia, UK for spring 2010 to write his new book on “Senses in Understanding of Art: Arts of the Yoruba-speaking People in West Africa.”
