The Lubar Institute for the Study of the Abrahamic Religions has initiated the “Courage Project,” an interfaith activity for Madison-area high school teenagers in grades 10-12.
The project, coordinated by LISAR's Graduate Fellow Rohany Nayan, provides a forum for Jewish, Christian and Muslim teenagers to engage each other in learning about their peers’ traditions, their places within their own traditions, and their interrelationships as neighbors and members of particular faith communities.
The Courage Project will train teens to develop the courage necessary to work through stereotypes about others and to communicate honestly with each other about their personally held beliefs in the process.
The 21 students, seven from each faith tradition, are meeting together four times before showcasing their experiences in a performance open to the greater Madison community on May 8, 2011.
