AwardThe L&S Committee on Academic Staff Issues (CASI) seeks interested Academic Staff members in the College of Letters & Science.

Four positions are opening this fall, to replace members finishing their terms.

Elected in the spring, by all Academic Staff in the College of Letters and Science, CASI members serve three-year terms that begin in the fall of the following academic year. A senior CASI member co-chairs the committee with the Dean of the College.

Primarily an advisory cabinet, the L&S CASI meets monthly with the Dean, to facilitate communication about Academic Staff issues and to clarify policy relating to or affecting Academic Staff in the College. The CASI tries to reflect a broad range of Academic Staff in terms of member functional areas (e.g. Administrative, Instructional, Research) and titles (e.g. Advisor, Student Services Program Manager, Senior Scientist, Administrative Program Specialist, Outreach).

If you are interested in running for a position starting this fall, please send Committee Chair Rachel Weiss an email with your name and a paragraph that will appear on the ballot that all Academic Staff will see next week.

This paragraph should give your name, state your interest in serving on this committee and give a brief biographical sketch. Blurbs should be no longer than 125 words and must be emailed to me (rweiss@southasia.wisc.edu) before noon on Friday, March 23, 2011.

Being a CASI member is a great way to serve the College, to learn more about it, and to have a greater voice in it.
