Chris Logterman, who joined the College of Letters & Science as an advisor in 2013, was known as a caring and professional advocate for students and a mentor among advisors. She was 43 years old.

Phillip R. Certain, dean of Letters & Science from 1993 to 2004, passed away on August 11. He is remembered as a thoughtful, strategic leader and innovator who cultivated leadership in others.

A conversation with Eric M. Wilcots, Letters & Science’s new leader

Wilcots has been serving as interim dean of the college since August, when he succeeded John Karl Scholz, who became the university’s provost. Wilcots, the Mary C. Jacoby professor of astronomy, served as deputy dean and associate dean for research of the College of Letters & Science prior to being named interim dean.

Jennifer Noyes has been hired as vice provost for academic operations, a newly created position within the Office of the Provost to enhance the operational effectiveness of UW–Madison’s academic enterprise.
