The celebration was topped with a conference and an evening of reminiscence at the Chancellor's residence, Olin House.

And Hermand hasn't slowed down since.
A few weeks after celebrations in Madison, Hermand traveled to Humboldt University in Berlin. He holds an honorary professorship and teaches a large lecture course there every spring.
The celebrations continued with Hermand delivering talks and discussions on topics such as ecology, German studies, anti-fascism and German-US relations with Humboldt luminaries.
By mid-November, Hermand was back in Madison.
His plans for the rest of November and early December include lectures at the UW Hillel and the Chazen Museum of Art, and a keynote speech for a Humboldt symposium in Madison.
