Freida Tesfagiorgis, an artist, art historian and faculty member in the Department of Afro-American Studies, has been serving as a Ford Foundation of West Africa consultant in Lagos, Nigeria. During her first trip to Lagos, she authored a general assessment of the condition of art objects, facilities, buildings and infrastructure.
Subsequently, she developed a week-long professional development forum “Lecture-Seminar-Workshop on Art Education and Museum-Schools Collaboration” for the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, held at The National Museum-Lagos (March 16-20, 2009). Participants included about 35 Educational Officers from 15 Nigerian Museums.
