The Department of Afro-American Studies welcomes a new colleague, Assistant Professor Christy Clark-Pujara, a historian whose interests include U.S. slavery and slave rebellions in the Americas.
Clark-Pujara's doctoral research on slavery and emancipation in Rhode Island focuses attention on the history of bondage in a state rarely associated with plantation agriculture.
Her work expands the programmatic reach of Afro-American Studies and makes a welcome contribution to the larger community of scholars engaged in mapping and interpreting the history of the African diaspora. Welcome, Professor Clark-Pujara!
