The African Studies Program unveiled “Africa Forward” a new series developed by Catherine Reiland, the new Assistant Director, which links current UW-Madison students with professionals in all fields whose careers have been inspired and enriched by their study of Africa.
Cyrus Farivar, a freelance technology journalist and radio reporter, kicked off the inaugural event with humor and encouraging words. A natural story-teller, Farivar explained to a packed audience how he went from studying abroad in UW’s Senegal study abroad program in 2003, to reporting for National Public Radio and The New York Times within five years of completing his BA.
