Move-in
Laundry carts brim with belongings as volunteer Badger Buddies help new students move into Tripp Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Aug. 27, 2010. Nearly 6,500 students are expected to move into 17 residential housing facilities on campus Aug. 25, 27 and 28. Photo by: Bryce Richter

Today is the first day of classes, and to celebrate Dean Sandefur sent us a little inspiration ala Henry V:

Once more into the semester, dear friends, once more.
In summer there's nothing so becomes a person
As modest stillness, humility, and a cold beverage;
But when the blast of the school year blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.
Leave Berkeley and Michigan in the dust.
Let no essential learning outcome go unrealized.
Let no program continue without an assessment plan.
Then, years from now, when you are retired,
You can say with pride:
I was there in L&S in Fall 2010!

Thanks to everyone in the College of Letters & Science for all that you do.

Here's to another great year!
