Mihaela Ifrim is a Clare Luce Boothe Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and received her PhD from the University of California at Davis. Her research interests lie in Nonlinear Dispersive Equations (water wave equations and related dispersive models), Fluid Mechanics, Elastodynamics, Harmonic Analysis and General Relativity. She also participates in the Sloan Research Fellowship and received the NSF CAREER award.

Mihaela grew up in Romania, where she discovered early on her passion for competitive problem solving in mathematics. After an undergraduate degree in Bucharest her mathematical voyages took her to UC Davis, then to Canada to McMaster, back to California to Berkeley, and from there to Madison. Mihaela's research interests are centered in the theoretical world of partial differential equations, specifically, nonlinear dispersive equations that are motivated among other things by fluid dynamics and general relativity. Outside of mathematics Mihaela is an enthusiastic hiker and hits a trail whenever the opportunity arises.
