Jenna M. Loyd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography. She received her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Jenna is a feminist geographer who focuses on issues of racism and violence in the United States and in U.S. domestic and international policy. Her research on the social production of health inequities focuses on the relationship between militarization and health inequities and on movements for health and social justice. Her second principal area of research is on migration deterrence and the relationship between migration detention in the United States and the broader carceral state. As in her work on health politics, she is interested in how movements are organizing to transform the carceral state.

Professor Jenna Loyd is a human geographer who draws on anti-racist and feminist theory in her research on health, violence, migration, border regimes, and incarceration.
