Dear L&S Colleagues,
I want to share with you good news about the progress of the UW-System’s 2021-23 biennial budget request to fund a new L&S academic building to replace the Humanities building. I’m very pleased to report that the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) of the Wisconsin legislature has recommended that the joint House approve funding for the new facility. The joint House will vote on the budget and then send it to the Governor for his vote or line-item veto. Governor Evers has publicly expressed support for funding the new building.
Our work is certainly not done, but I want to take this opportunity to thank the JFC and all of you, along with President Thompson and Chancellor Blank and our colleagues across campus, the WFAA and the System, and our alumni, friends, students, and community members, for the tremendous support the College has received for this capital project. Countless people have worked for years to bring this new facility to fruition, and we’re forever indebted to all of them for their passionate and tireless efforts.
For more information, please view the University’s press release HERE.
I’ll keep you updated on further progress at the Capitol. On, Wisconsin!
