Students from UW-Madison's student radio station, WSUM 91.7 FM, were honored earlier this fall with one winner and three finalist awards at the 2015 College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) National Student Radio Production Awards Ceremony.

CBI named WSUM 91.7 FM the Best Student Media Website winner, Best Student Media Website finalist and two Best Newscast finalists. The awards were announced Oct. 24 at the CBI National Student Electronic Media Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis.

The Best Student Media Website award was judged on how easy the site was to navigate; how user friendly the site was for those seeking information about the media outlet; and if the web site was a destination or a resource for listeners/viewers. Best Newscast was awarded based on content and service to the community, judging on writing, editing, news judgment and use of audio.

"I'm thankful to be working with the news team that not only loves reporting but also cares about students on campus and the community in Madison," says WSUM News Director Kelly Wang. "It's an honor for us to receive these awards and we will keep the tradition alive."

WSUM has been serving the campus and Madison community since 1996 with a wide range of music, talk and news programs.
