David Baum, professor and Chair in the Department of Botany, will receive a 2009 Hamel Family Letters & Science Faculty Fellow award.

Baum will receive $50,000 in non-lapsing flexible funds available in five annual $10,000 increments beginning July 1, 2009.

The Letters & Science Faculty Fellows program was initially created with a generous gift from George Hamel and his wife Pamela. George Hamel (BA'80, Communication Arts) is a member of the College of Letters and Science Board of Visitors.

The Hamel's vision has inspired five other donors to support this and future fellowships. A very special thanks to our dedicated supporters who continue to be some of our greatest advocates in teaching, research and innovation.
