Twelve faculty members have been chosen to receive this year’s Distinguished Teaching Awards, an honor given out since 1953 to recognize the university’s finest educators. Nine of those faculty members teach in the College of Letters & Science.

Ten members of the University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty have been appointed to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) named professorships in 2017. Seven of those faculty members are L&S professors.
The Wisconsin Alumni Association recognizes eight alumni under the age of 40 who are leveraging the benefits of their UW education to better their cities, states, nation and the world. Six of these outstanding citizens are L&S alumni.

Professor of Mathematics Steven Sam one of two UW-Madison recipients of a 2017 Sloan Research Fellowship, which recognizes and provides resources for researchers early in their careers. Professor of Neuroscience Darcie Moore from the School of Medicine and Public Health also received a fellowship.
